There are countless planets in the Star Wars universe that have yet to appear in any live-action film. The 2003 Clone Wars series was a super cool look at the galaxy-spanning conflict first described in A New Hope and kicked off in earnest at the end of Attack of the Clones. It featured several interesting planets, like Muunilinst (the headquarters of the Banking Clan), but none were quite as rich as Nelvaan. Inhabited by tribal, canine-like people with an intense spiritual connection to their home, Nelvaan is a frigid and desolate world under the control of the Techno Union, which conducts inhuman experiments on the adult male Nelvaanians. That is until the arrival of Anakin Skywalker.
It would be interesting to see this unique planet officially brought back into canon via a live-action movie, as the blend of religious mysticism and scientific experimentation has rarely been explored in Star Wars in such a way.
5. Korriban: The Ancient Birthplace Of The Sith
- First Appearance: Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith 2
Korriban has the illustrious distinction of being the Sith homeworld. This, of course, refers to the true Sith race, who eventually went extinct after millennia of on and off warfare, rather than humans who’ve chosen to use the dark side. This is where all of that began, and some of those teachings survived the millennia well after the planet itself became a skeletal husk.
Korriban has been featured in many games and novels but never a movie, which is a shame because it is potentially an awesome planet for a film, precisely because of all that ancient Sith knowledge buried beneath its red sands. Visiting this haunting planet in live-action could result in some truly horrific depictions of the lingering Sith spirits that haunt its derelict temples, too.
4. Mon Cala: Home To Some Of The Franchise’s Most Famous Characters
- First Appearance: Star Wars: The Clone Wars, “Water War”
Home to the ever-present Calamari people, Mon Cala is a world covered entirely with a never-ending sea. Its inhabitants (most notably Admiral Ackbar) are famous for their involvement in the Galactic Civil War, having provided the ships utilized by the Rebellion in many instances.

One could be forgiven for assuming Mon Cala has been featured in a Star Wars movie before considering how often a Calamari character shows up. However, this water world has never actually been shown outside of cartoons, novels, and video games. It is a shame, too, because it would be a visual treat to see the homeworld of one of the most important allies to the Rebellion and Resistance in live-action.
3. Nar Shaddaa: The Fan-Favorite Crime-Ridden Cesspit
- First Appearance: Star Wars: Dark Forces
Few planets receive as much love from fans as Nar Shaddaa. First appearing in Star Wars: Dark Forces, the planet would rise to prominence in the community from its inclusion in the Jedi series of games and would go on to appear in others thereafter. Nar Shaddaa is a lot like Coruscant, but it is entirely controlled by the Hutts, whose home planet it orbits as a moon.
It is a neon-bathed, crime-infested metropolis so out of reach of any lawful authority that it is considered one of the most dangerous places in the galaxy, making it a potentially amazing setting in a live-action movie.
2. Dantooine: The First Legends Era Planet
- First Mentioned: Star Wars: A New Hope
Dantooine was first mentioned by Leia in the original Star Wars, but it wouldn’t be developed in any of the subsequent films. Instead, Dantooine would receive extensive development in the old Legends era novels and games (particularly The Old Republic). Like many outer rim planets, it is a bit of a simplistic backwater affair, with no real major metropolitan settlements.
That said, Dantooine has found itself as not only a base for the Rebellion but also a battlefield during the Clone Wars and even a hub for the Jedi Council centuries before that. It has proven its versatility as a setting, and given how long it has existed in Star Wars lore, it’s about time it got some live-action representation.

Mortis sits at the center of some of the greatest mysteries in the Star Wars universe and has ever since its introduction in The Clone Wars. The very planet itself is a product of the Force, as are its three (or possibly four) inhabitants; the Father, the Son, and the Daughter.
Mortis would disappear at the end of its storyline and has yet to reappear. However, the ending of Ahsoka seems to suggest that fans may just get to revisit its mysteries at some point in the future. Perhaps this means it may finally see a live-action debut.
